Worship

Worship with us Sunday mornings at 1oam. “Discovery Time” and childcare provided.

Communion Bread Every 3rd Sunday we have a pot-luck brunch together after worship.  ”BE the Church” Sundays happen on months with 5 Sundays on the 5th Sunday.

The Gathering: Worship is very important to us at SHPC, but we don’t see it simply as a way to draw new people in to our church as much as a way for each of us to be drawn in to an irresistible lifeLeading worship of faith.  We hope that each and every week our longtime members as well as our guests will feel welcomed in an exciting way.  We grow stronger in our worship through meaningful music and the arts, engaging community, and relevant preaching.

What to expect: We are a community that worships authentically, genuinely, with relevance and passion, using the best of old traditions and new expressions of worship as well as creating new ones all our own.  So we sing just about everything in our worship gatherings: old, new, hymns and “praise music”, secular songs, and even some originals by our worship leader.  We are informal (no need to dress up here!) and engaging in our style, and love to design experiences that leave us with a new song in our hearts, new words on our lips, and new challenges to go and “Be the Church”.  We play clips from movies and TV shows, we laugh, we pray, we care for one another, and most importantly, we love Jesus and believe that when we gather together in worship, we aren’t just “at” church, we “are” the church!  If you’re coming to experience the amazing love of God with us – or even if you’re coming just to have one of our excellent lattes – for whatever the reason, we’d love to have you with us.

Do you have a passion for worship and are you interested in helping out?  We’re seeking leadership in the following areas:

Tech/Audio-Visual: Do you enjoy digital technology and are you comfortable behind a computer or sound board?  Help run the computer or sound system during worship.  Experience is a plus, but not necessary!  We will train you!  Contact Director of Music, Art and Media Ministries, Nicole Belanus at nbelanus@shpchurch.org.

Coffee Fellowship: Ever wanted to be a Barista on the other side of the counter at Starbucks?  Here’s your chance!  We love drinking fair trade coffee and lattes and hanging out with one another, and are always looking for helpers to coordinate our weekly beverage and snack options as well as our monthly brunches.  Contact Carol Proctor at caroltom2@cox.net.

Usher/Greeter: Are you a people person?  Do you enjoy helping people feel welcomed and at home?  Are you an early bird and don’t mind showing up to worship a wee bit early?  Sign up to be an usher/greeter one Sunday during worship.  Contact Selwa Fiskus at fiskuss@cox.net.

Arts Team: Do you have a passion for the arts?  Do you enjoy exploring the connections between spirituality and creativity and do you always appreciate the aesthetics of a building when you enter it?  Sounds like we need you on our arts team!  We gather ideas and energy from time to time to switch up the decor of the worship space depending on the season and current worship series.  Contact Nicole Belanus, Director of Music, Art and Media Ministries at nbelanus@shpchurch.org.
