The Worship Gathering:

Worship is very important to us at SHPC, but we don’t see it simply as a way to “draw new people in” to our church as much as way for each of us to “be drawn in” to an irresistible life of faith.  We hope that each and every week our longtime members as well as our guests will feel welcomed in an exciting way.  We grow stronger in our worship through meaningful music and the arts, engaging community, and relevant teaching.

all things new...

Worship isn’t about us.
It’s about God.
Worship isn’t something we “do” on Sunday mornings...
it’s the way we live.
Worship isn’t a shout into the dark abyss...
it’s a living dialogue between us and our maker,
it’s a call and a response.
Worship is sacrificial. It’s communal. It’s personal. It’s intimate. It’s exciting. It’s life-giving.
It’s beyond our wildest dreams and it takes us to places we didn’t really want to go to find out that that’s where we wanted to be...all along.
It is infinite.
It is humbling.
It is moving.
It’s our undoing.
It’s where the details of our lives get lost in the wonder of it all.
It connects us to something bigger than ourselves.
It’s our beautiful, messy response when all we can do is look up in silence at the stars.
What to expect...
We are a community that worships authentically, genuinely, with relevance and passion, using the best of old traditions and new expressions of worship as well as creating new ones all our own. So we sing just about everything in our worship gatherings: old, new, hymns and “praise music”, secular songs, and even some originals. We are informal (no need to dress up here!) and engaging in our style, and design worship experiences that leave us with a new song in our hearts, new words on our lips, and new challenges to go and “be the church”. We play movie clips, we laugh, we pray, we care for one another, and most importantly, we love Jesus and believe that when we gather together in worship, we aren’t just “at” church, we “are” the church!

If you’re coming to experience the love of God with us - or even if you’re coming just to have one of our excellent lattes - whatever the reason, we’d love to have you with us.
