Pastor

Pastor Kristin is an artist and musician. She loves baking, reading, playing the piano, creating mixed-media collages (one is in her church office!), and hanging out with her three cats Eva, Simon, and Violet.

She completed her Master of Divinity degree at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia in 2012. She has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) including a summer internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, and a year-long residency at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Prior to coming to SHPC on April 1, 2024, Pastor Kristin served as a solo pastor at Green Ridge Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Virginia, and West Nottingham Presbyterian Church in Colora, Maryland.

Having been dubbed an “Ambassador of Grace,” Pastor Kristin enjoys walking with you on your faith journey, learning with you and from you, and wrestling with deep questions of faith and life. She is always up for getting together for a cup of coffee or tea.

You can drop in and chat with Pastor Kristin at the church office on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9:00am – 12noon. Or, you can meet her at Hohl, a coffee shop in Toano at  7961 Richmond Road on Mondays from 9:00am – 12noon. Rob Peterman

Music Director

Rob has been captivated by the power of music from an early age. Gifted with a love for music that was nurtured by his family, he has found joy, comfort, and healing through music throughout his life. His background spans a wide range of genres—both sacred and secular—and he brings that creative range to his role at Stone House Presbyterian Church.

Rob believes music is a living, breathing art form, inspired by both the timeless and the contemporary. He is passionate about exploring new sounds, mastering diverse genres, and expanding our understanding of what worship can be. Before coming to Stone House, Rob led a traditional church choir for 15 years, and his transition to leading a praise band has been, in his words, “one of the best decisions I’ve made.”

His musical experience includes performing in rock bands, show choirs, madrigal groups, classical ensembles, and more. He’s known for playing just about any instrument he can get his hands on—and for inviting others to discover the healing and joy that music can bring to the soul.

The Session

The Session is the governing body of the church, made up of Elders elected by the congregation. Once ordained, an Elder is ordained for life, though they typically serve a three-year active term. Elders are the spiritual leaders of the congregation, helping to guide our mission, ministries, and congregational care.

The Session currently meets twice a month, both in person and via Zoom, to discuss and vote on the business of the church. These meetings are open to all, and members of the congregation are always welcome to attend.

Pastor Kristin serves as Moderator of Session. The Session strives to follow Christ and lead with love, wisdom, imagination, and hope.

Committees and Ministry Areas

The work of the church is supported through a combination of standing committees and individual areas of leadership.

Currently, our active committees include:

  • Building and Grounds

  • Mission

  • Nominating

  • Personnel

  • Worship

Additional areas such as Christian education and fellowship are guided by Elders who help coordinate and support this work, with the potential to grow into fuller committee structures over time.

This adaptable model allows us to serve faithfully while responding to the evolving needs of our church and community.
