Stone House Presbyterian Church is a planned and planted church visioned by the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia with the support of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. It was planned as part of the development of the Stonehouse tract in Upper James City County in the late 1990s in response to the 4400 homes that would be built.
Land was purchased and consecrated by the Presbytery in April of 1998 and the church was named the Westminster Presbyterian Church at Stonehouse. The first worship services were held the following December in the Toano Middle School. The Reverend Dr Neil Stevenson served as Interim Pastor until April 16, 2000.
In August 2000 the Rev. Dr. Robert Melone, Jr. was called as organizing pastor. When the new church was chartered on October 27, 2002 the name had been changed to Stone House Presbyterian Church. From the original 120 charter members of SHPC a Session was formed and a Buildings and Grounds campaign was begun. Worship continued to be held at Toano Middle School as the church building was under construction.
On June 9, 2007, on the eve of the first worship gathering in the new building located at 9401 Fieldstone Parkway, over seventy current members of the church signed a reaffirmation of the Membership Covenant.
Since 2000, installed Pastors have been the Reverend Dr Robert Melone Jr, the Reverend Alex Creager and the Reverend Kristin Reinhold. A Preschool is located on the lower level of the church building.
