MUSIC & ARTS

Light Blue Curved Background_edited.jpg

Music and visual arts create space for joy, reflection, lament, and healing in the life of worship.  They unite us in our worship of God and draw us closer to God and one another.

We sing just about every style of music in our worship services: hymns, praise songs, gospel, spirituals, and new music from around the world, including Taize and Iona. If you have a favorite song you want to sing in worship, let Rob or Pastor Kristin know!

The Praise Band rehearses Sunday mornings from 9:15am-10:00am. Contact Rob if you’re interested in playing or singing with the Praise Band.

In 2025, SHPC hosted the band Joe’s Day Off (JDO) for a concert as a way to give back to the community. SHPC is interested in hosting additional concerts in the future.

The colors of the decorations on the communion table reflect the seasons of the church year leading us through Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection, and the life of the early church.  Banners, paintings, and mixed media collages hang around the sanctuary providing visual reflections during worship. Natural light and a beautiful forest of trees accompany worship through the glass doors and windows at the back and side of the sanctuary. The wall behind the pulpit and communion table is made of stone, which further connects us to creation during worship. Volunteers provide flowers for the communion table during worship. If you’re interested in providing flowers, please contact Pastor Kristin.
